MAD Srl

The need

Mad Srl coordinating offices and electronic equipments spread out over 55 hectares of land; Mad head office wants to coordinate it with the less waste possible of money and time and in an effective and efficient way. In Mad each machine produces documents and stores data that must then be compared and examined by an expert team in MAD Ltd. In many cases, moreover, the machines are moved from one place to another without the possibility that any of these movements were traceable.

The portal

Abstract has developed for Mad to a document management system that interfaces with its Caterpillar machines and is capable of providing standard documents in compliance with the laws that Mad had to respect. Moreover, such information can be managed from within the firm intranet and through a GIS system made available on an extranet and therefore available to institutions designed to control (like the Italian government inspectors). This allows Mad, at any time, to track down a machine on the ground and "remotely" get information from it. Then this info are migrated to the intranet: the data can be transferred in the form of origin, or you can proceed to a transformation according to its intended use in the Intranet. For the Mad project, for example, we created a document repository where: the business report produced by each machine are generated automatically and in a standardized format from the system that puts them in the Intranet by assigning each document to its privileges under the access policies, in this way without having to physically reach the machinery that performs the analysis the report of the result is displayed in a database which can be simply extrapolated into compatible format.
Plone is a flexible and secure solution for managing document workflow: you can follow on the intranet all operations involving the processing and transmission of documents, specifying the activities and roles of all members of the work process.
